What PriceTape is

PriceTape is a dated record of how software vendors price and package their products: what their public pages say, how that has changed over time, and what public documents show buyers have paid. Every change we report is dated and points to its source.

Your account

You sign in with a link we email you. There is no password. You are responsible for who you invite to your account and for keeping sign-in links to yourself.

Trials and plans

A trial lasts 14 days and needs no card. A plan is monthly, at the price shown on the plan page when you choose it. If you choose a plan during a trial, the first charge is on the trial's last day, never earlier. You can change or cancel a plan at any time from your billing page; cancelling stops the next charge, and alerts continue for seven days after the paid period ends. After that your inbox stays readable and stops updating until you restart. If you do not choose a plan, nothing is charged.

One-time purchases

The full record for a single vendor is a one-time purchase at the price shown on that vendor's page. It is yours to keep for as long as PriceTape exists, and it is not refunded once the record has been opened.

The API

Keys are issued from your account. A key reads what your account can read, within the request limits shown with it. You may build your own tools on it. You may not resell the data it returns, republish it wholesale, or share a key with people outside your account.

Payments

Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see your card number. Prices exclude any applicable taxes.

What we promise, and what we don't

We report what vendors' public pages said and what public documents state, with dates. Vendors change their pages, public records can be incomplete, and our reading of a change can be wrong. PriceTape is provided as is; check the source before relying on a figure for a decision that matters. We are not affiliated with the vendors we track. Our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.

Using what you see

You may use PriceTape's pages, alerts and API in your own work and quote short excerpts with a link back. You may not resell or republish PriceTape's data wholesale, scrape it, or share sign-in links, keys or paid access with people outside your account.

Ending an account

You can end your account at any time by emailing hello@pricetape.co; we delete what we hold about you as described in the privacy page. We may end an account that breaks these terms, refunding any unused paid period.
